and so…our teacher training school, California Power Yoga, got born.

CPY is committed to training powerful, inspiring teachers. we offer comprehensive power vinyasa yoga training programs including 200-hour teacher training, hands-on assisting training and innovative workshops for both teachers and students.

our 200-hour schedule follows an all-new module system to meet the needs of those who want to teach and those who just want to learn more about yoga in general. students can now explore just the subjects they’re interested in or get committed and sign on for the whole program.

below is our 2014 schedule. each training will be limited to a maximum of 12 students. mark your calendars and get signed up today!

foundations of teaching:
students will explore and understand the basic elements of vinyasa, alignment and breathing, and be able to offer proper and powerful instruction for a complete power yoga class.

weekend 1: january 31 + february 1, 2
weekend 2: february 7, 8, 9,
weekend 3: february 15, 16

friday evenings: 7-9 p.m.
saturday afternoons: 1-6 p.m.
sunday: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

course requires attendance at at least 3 classes per week during the training dates.

mondays: 6:30 a.m. or 5:45 p.m. POWER
tuesdays: 5:45 p.m. FLOW
wednesdays: 6:30 a.m. or 5:45 p.m. POWER
thursdays: 5:45 p.m. FLOW

course fee: $1280, includes training sessions, the 200-hour TT manual starter kit, one-on-one coaching and exam fee.

prerequisites: one year of regular yoga practice and at least 10 classes at three dog yoga.

foundations of assisting:

students will learn theory and practice of basic hands-on assists, as well as basic anatomy and alignment.

march 8: 1-6 p.m.
march 9: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

course fee: $198, includes training, one-on-one coaching, practice sessions and exam fee.

no prerequisite required. this course is required for 200-hour RYT certification, as well as for assisting classes at three dog yoga.

foundations of anatomy:
students will explore and understand the skeletal, muscular and nervous systems, as well as yoga-specific energetic anatomy systems, including koshas, nadis and chakras. students will learn how poses affect and are affected by anatomical principals.

may 3: 1-6 p.m.
may 4: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

course fee: $198, includes training, manual pages, additional materials and exam fee.

no prerequisite required. this course is required for 200-hour RYT certification, as well as for assisting classes at three dog yoga.

yoga philosophy + history:
students will explore and understand the historical and philosophical roots of power yoga, from the Baghavad Gita and Yoga Sutras of Patanjali to the books and philosophy of Baron Baptiste. sessions will also include Ethics Training for Yoga Teachers.

june 7: 1-6 p.m.
june 8: 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

course fee: $198, includes training, manual pages, additional materials and exam fee.

prerequisite: participation in a three dog yoga sponsored FORTY DAYS TO PERSONAL REVOLUTION within the past year.

this course is required for 200-hour RYT certification.

teaching every body:
students will learn and practice techniques for empowering and instructing special populations. students will learn contraindications and modifications, as well as techniques for designing all-levels classes that incorporate all bodies, as well as specialty classes for particular groups. teaching to pre/post-natal students, seniors, kids and those with injuries/conditions will be explored.

june 12: 1 p.m.-6 p.m.
june 13: 10 a.m.-6 p.m.

prerequisite: FOUNDATIONS OF TEACHING

this course is required for 200-hour RYT certification.

powerful teaching:
students will refine and strengthen their teaching, communication and leadership skills. students will learn to speak and act powerfully. students will practice teaching and assisting, as well as giving and receiving feedback.

weekend 1: august 2 + 3
weekend 2: august 9 + 10

students will receive final exam requirements for 200-hour RYT certification in this session.
prerequisites: FOUNDATIONS OF TEACHING, FOUNDATIONS OF ASSISTING, FOUNDATIONS OF ANATOMY, YOGA PHILOSOPHY + HISTORY.

course fee: $548, includes training, manual pages, one-on-one coaching and exam fees.
