You may have heard that the ability to get up off the floor, also known as the sit-rise test or SRT, is highly correlated with longevity. (PubMed Article here, if you want to know more.)

Guess what? Yoga helps.

Because the SRT is highly influenced by your hip mobility yoga asana practiceis a great way to keep yourself getting up and down with ease. Another predictor of your SRT ability is how well you move around when you’re sitting on the floor — hello, seated-asana sequence.

On top of the hip openers and seated asanas, our classes incorporate SRT practice drills … this video, filmed in one of our weekly Zoom classes, features a few key techniques to get you started.
