one step at a time.

one step at a time.

join us Sundays at 8a – for walking meditation. free for every body.

how’s it gonna roll out?

  1. prepare – wear clothes and shoes for the weather…as well as a face mask that covers your mouth and nose (need one? we’ve got great locally-made, double-layer, adjustable ones for $15).
  2. meet – 8:00a outside three dog yoga – 1617 terrace way.
  3. greet – we’ll take a few moments to say hello as we walk over to the entrance to the rural cemetery on Franklin St. we’ll keep six feet distance so that everyone feels safe and comfortable…jazz hands are the new hugs and thumbs up are the new high-fives.
  4. meditation – when we enter the cemetery, we’ll begin with a contemplative reading and then hold noble silence as we wander the labyrinthine paths.
  5. closing – we’ll circle back to the studio by 8:20a so that we can all get back in place for FLOW at 9a.

what is meditative walking? it’s a slow, steady paced walk through nature, in which you focus your mind on the physical experience of being and moving in nature. it’s slower than regular walking, much slower than fitness walking. and as much as we love dogs, it’s done without any distractions. if you can leave your phone in your car, so much the better.

what’s it good for? everything! your body loves walking and being outdoors, your mind loves it, too…especially if you are a fidgety skeptic when it comes to seated meditation. contemplative walking is a lot like vinyasa yoga…you give your mind something physical to focus on (your body, walking in nature) and it calms the !@#$ down. it’s also a way we can safely and easily come together during these challenging times. if you could use a dose of community spirit, this is definitely for you!

p.s. you can bring your 12 donations for the FOOD, FUNDS AND FUN DRIVE for the Redwood Empire Food Bank, too! and we’ll get you a shift happens “hydration optimizer”!
